Now I know that the devs like copper's unique functionality to oxidize, I like it too! But I feel that with all of the love copper is receiving in 1.21, Iron has been left out. Am I suggesting a copy paste of oxidation from copper to iron? No; I suggest Iron have a twist with its oxidation that sets it apart from copper. I think that for Iron anything to rust, it should be exposed to air like copper but also be exposed to water before it can oxidize by one step. Like if an iron block is left out in the elements, it will not start the countdown to the next oxidation step until it has either been rained on or someone uses a water bottle on it like mud. Then once exposed to water it will rust by one step. Then repeat until it is fully rusted.. It should also work with wax like the copper. I think giving iron the ability to rust in this way preserves copper's uniqueness as it will constantly be counting down to the next oxidation step, but also make Iron stand out in that the oxidation won't progress to the next step until it gets wet.
I really think that implementing it this way is a way to make those who like how unique copper is and those (myself included) who wish to be able to build with the lovely color of rusted iron. I really feel that adding rusted iron would be another wonderful addition to the color pallet of players.
