Mining machinery and mine carts useful with smaller inventory

Crafting mining equipment with redstone would be useful if player inventory would be made smaller . At the moment there is no need to craft mining machinery because players can carry everything to their base using their inventory. Minecraft is not so much the craft of mining (a very difficult job) it is more like 'medieval home craft'. I think that 64 stack is too much to carry. Inventory stack being 32 would be enough to stop complaints but not too much to make mine carts useless.
