Quasi-connectivity (QC) is a behaviour in java edition where pistons, dispensers and droppers get activated if the space 1 block above them is also being activated, while it is a bug, it is one of the "its a feature bug" that is extremely useful in Redstone.
Imo, as the crafter resembles the dropper closely it should obey QC, this would give it more options to be used like a dropper and could rise to more interesting and more useful contraptions.
This would also counter intrusively, be actually more intuitive for the general user as weird edge cases where a dropper would get powered would also power a crafter, even if people don't understand why it would be more consistent.
This would also be a good opportunity to add a QC gamerule to bedrock
