It would be really helpful to have a redstone powered stonecutter work station similar to the Crafter that is being added in the 1.21 update. This would probably be a specialty item that had to be acquired or crafted in a similar way as the Crafter. A user would load a "template" block to let the stonecutter know which material to accept. A particular redstone signal could then be used to select the type of output block. As an example, a signal strength of 15 could correspond to polished deepslate block provided cobbled deepslate was provided to the stonecutter. Alternatively, the user could select the specific block to output based on input buttons that the user can see when they interact with the stonecutter. But, using redstone signals to determine the output block would allow users to build factories that could produce more than one type of output block (e.g., both sandstone slabs and stairs).
This would allow redstone fans even more variability. And, it would tie in very nicely to the new copper blocks that are coming to minecraft. For players that like making large builds in Survival mode, this could be a game changer.
