I've really enjoyed the changes proposed for villagers in recent snapshots. One thing that got me and my wife thinking was the new incentives to build your own villages in Swamp and Jungle biomes. I like the idea but from what it seems we'll still need to get the villagers there somehow. The current methods (Boats/minecarts) of doing this feel lackluster and clearly discouraged with the new rules. Our idea is to have villages follow the player on an excursion to their destination. The player would first have to get a good enough reputation in the initial village through the gossip system (or potentially after completing a Raid). Then once they reach a certain threshold, some number of villagers will be willing to follow the player if they carry a special item (unique banner only gotten after reaching threshold). This will allow the player to take the villagers wherever they please. To balance this very powerful mechanic is the journey itself. The player will have to protect all the villagers, provide beds and shelter so they are protected and don't change their mind and return to their original village. We think this will give players more opportunities to build and replace the current strategy of boating villagers across worlds. Hope others enjoy this idea. It personally sounds very fun to go camping with villagers and move them in to a custom player built village.
