I understand the reasoning behind wanting to change and nerf the current trading system with enchanted books. However, I feel the current nerf has gone too far. The trades shouldn't be biome locked. Yes, this promotes more exploration, sure. Nerfing villager trades so heavily shouldn't be what promotes exploration.
Instead, I propose a few changes that might give the same effect, with less outcry. Nerf the villager trades not by locking them behind biomes, and decreasing max level. Only decrease it by max level. Add rarer/higher level enchanted books to the Wandering Trader's inventory. Alongside this, come up with a few more minor structures (like desert temples) that generate around the world and have enchanted books be a common loot drop from their chests. A few ideas could be a dwarven esc mountain castle, dug into the side of a mountain. A wooden fort in forests or plains. A Witch coven house in swamps. Equip these buildings with spawners or respawning enemies for a struggle to gain the loot. These things combined should hopefully not cause so much outcry, and promote more exploration.
