With the changes to librarian trades coming in a later update, it seems like a good time to revisit the secret villager types (Jungle & Swamp villagers) added in the Village & Pillage update.
I don't want to address the actual details of the balance, however, it's a bit of a problem that there are no organic hints to the existence of these hidden villager types. Considering that these villager types are now required to get these enchantments, there should be a method of pushing new players to try breeding villagers in these secret-type biomes. It doesn't have to directly tell the new players that they can do that, instead subtly hinting them to try it, even if the intention isn't to get the hidden types.
I propose ruined villages/settlements get added to the Jungles & Swamps, each tying into the new archaeology system! I used to renovate villages with my brother in our survival playthroughs so I think adding the remnants of a civilisation could really help push people to move villagers into these locations, accidentally discovering the hidden villager types in the process! Tying it into the new archaeology system could give this renovation process depth, maybe ever revealing old villager artefacts that players could tell a story with.
TLDR:
- Add abandoned villages to jungles + swamps
- Add archaeology things to them
- Let players clean them up and accidentally discover the hidden villager types.
