For a long time, I thought the inclusion of a dynamic cloud system could be a cool addition to the base game.
The current clouds are layered over the world at a particular height as defined by the cloud texture map. This is how people have found the exact location on unknown seeds when hunting the title page worlds for some time.
I would recommend adding variable height and depth to the cloud system dependent on the biome(?), weather, and time of day occasionally. These clouds could hint at upcoming weather events, change as a rainstorm transitions into a thunderstorm, or even have a chance of not showing up at all if it’s during a long dry spell.
I am uncertain how this would effect the performance of the game, but I have been thinking of this for awhile now and wanted to at least post it on this site.
