Yes, there are already a lot of redstone ideas about copper but hear me out.
Copper blocks(and all its cut variants) just like Redstone wires should be able to transfer redstone signals up to 15 blocks on all sides. This can make redstone transfering to be Fully directional. But here's a catch, the oxidized variants of copper will have shorter yields of passing redstone signals.
Every level of oxidation will reduce 5 strengths of signals. That means exposed copper blocks would only transfer up to 10 redstone signal, weathered 5 redstone signals and the fully oxidized one will function just like all solid blocks.
Any redstone powered copper blocks will be immuned to oxidation and they should emit a little bit of light levels
Now, redstone transfering longer than 1 block is only possible if there's a redstone wire lines or other copper blocks adjacent to the powered copper block.
Powered copper blocks can only conduct redstone on 5 sides as any side of it becomes the input. Copper blocks can only transfer redstone to blocks directly facing it, so it prevents unnecessary quasi-connection(for java)
This feature might as well add copper door, copper buttons and copper pressure plates and other copper components for redstone.
Copper Chains and Copper Lantern can be a good addition, Copper lantern can only turn on once powered by redstone and the light level it produce would be based on its redstone signal.
I have a lot more but I'll end it here.
