Realms have gotten progressively more laggy over the last couple of years

I've been playing on a realm with my partner for two years now. We've had multiple worlds and lots of fun, but its been getting more and more laggy with every update. Stuff like digging or placing multiple blocks in succession, moving items between my inventory and a chest, and attacking monsters can be subject to several seconds of server lag. Some days its almost unplayable. As a paid service, it can be frustrating when even on the best of days the lag is almost always present. Even on a brand new world. Are there any plans to improve server capacity or optimize game performance to reduce server side lag?

    The lag on my realm is terrible. The world I play on with my friends is about 2 years old now and I made a realm for us in march this year. It's really nice to be able to not be there while my friends play, but It just sucks that it's gotten so laggy. The latest Vibrant Visuals update has made it even worse as it's barely playable with only 3 people online. I want more from this paid service, and I really hope they can find a way to make it better.
