I know, you probably just read this and thought: "Is this dude insane?", but let me explain:
Archeology as of right now only works in desert temples, Trail ruins and underwater ruins. So I thought: The Ancient City already has the word "Ancient" in it's name, so why not make it a site for archeology?
This would work the following: A new block called "Suspicious Sculk" would be added, that would generate in sculk patches in and around Ancient Cities. You would either dig them up with a brush, or -because brushing sculk doesn't make sense- with a completely new item, a scraper, that would be made like a hoe, but without the stick in the last row.
Like this, new items could be dug up, and i'm not only talking about regular items, but also about new items like artifacts or other things that would add more room for speculation about the city's backstory and would make archeology in this structure more rewarding. For example a flute, that could calm the Warden down with it's charming melody, giving the player an opportunity to escape. (only an idea though)
I'd like this feature in Minecraft because it would make Ancient Cities even more interesting and would add more room for imagination and would also fit the 1.20 update.
Sorry for my bad English and my bad explanation, I hope that you still understood the idea and now have the ability to expand it. :)
