Armor protection is represented as white chestplates right above the health bar. However, they only show protection without enchantments, which makes determining the armor's protection quite the guess. My suggestion is to add another bar with the pre-existing armor bar to show the armor's effectiveness. For example, you have iron armor enchanted with protection IV and fire protection. The armor bar would show the white chestplates to represent the armor without enchantments, enchanted chestplates to show the added protection from the protection IV, and fiery textured chestplates to represent the added protection from the fire protection enchantments. Of course there are many other ways to show enchantments, but it's only an idea. It gives players a better idea of their armors effectiveness, which I think is very good.
