I wanted to suggest a way to make allays more easy to manage for self usage by playing on an already existing feature, the goat horn (or idealy the copper horn). This attempts to bring more interest on the allay for normal use, since it's really only used in niche, specific ways despite its fairly big potential. As far as I know, the most common usage of allays are making some sort of sorting farm, which is fine, but tends to be a little impractical at times, and a fairly bland use.
The idea revolves around making allays easier to instruct, they tend to get lost easily, hardly ever follow you and in general are better off stationary. It's for this that I suggest:
-Making the goat horn attract all nearby allays in a, let's say 30 by 30 radius, after which they would pathfind their way to the player, and stay fairly close to them, preferably a bit behind as to not annoy much when on travel. They would remain like this until you gave them an item to collect, since then it would go look for said item as normal.
-However, if you have given them an item before playing the horn, they would still find you as stated prior, but afterwards go back to collecting if the item is in close proximity.
This would fit with the sound theme, incentivice players to use them for personal use, while also relating back to illagers, infact the jazzy copper horn could contrast the raid war horn; Maybe an achievement could be made or horns added to the mansion lootpool as to make this interaction clearer.
