In the Creative mode inventory, unlimited power is the name of the game (actually, it's Minecraft). However, it lacks even the 2-by-2 Survival mode crafting functionality, which means that to make custom fireworks or rename an item, for example, one must place a block in the world or use commands. My suggestion to remedy this is also one that will grant more power to Creative mode players by essentially packaging several UI features within Creative mode's Survival Inventory.
Functionality: the ability to show or hide every crafting station (and possibly Ender Chest) interface in the game.
Use of space: UI elements positioned to the left of the Creative mode Survival Inventory, as that space is not used in Creative mode.
Non-intrusiveness: The UIs could be selected with tabs much like, but independent from, the tabs of the Creative inventory. They could be hidden in a similar way to the Recipe Book in other modes, by toggling the display off. It could be a tab per UI, with each one depicting its respective crafting station, plus the Ender Chest, plus a "nothing" tab that hides it all.
It is also not redundant because it has advantages over placing the blocks: it can be done faster, without taking up a block of space, and without closing the inventory.
