If you sit your wolf and go at least 1000 blocks away from it for at least 200 Minecraft days, it has a very small chance of becoming a zombified wolf. Zombified wolves would act the same as a normal tamed wolf except when they hit a mob, the mob gets the hunger or wither effect. A wolf can also become Zombified if a zombie hits it. This is also a very small chance.
