Fallen Meteorites

This would be a 8-12 block-wide mass of endstone and magma that infrequently generates in all Overworld biomes. There would be a crater surrounding ones that spawn aboveground, but you can also find them at all Y-levels below ground, including in caves. This would pair nicely with an End Update, and would even introduce some lore.
