Carpet on Note Blocks -> quieter Sounds

I'm currently building a music device in Minecraft, and some of the note blocks are too loud for my taste. So I thougth it would be great, if you could place carpet (for example) on note blocks to make them quieter. Would be pretty easy to implement (at least I think so) and would make a lot of musicians very happy :)
