Skunks are already a cosmetic item in Minecraft Dungeons, but they could have a place in the base game as well.
Skunks could spawn in temperate forest biomes and be passive but defensive. Skunks will run away from the player, and getting too close to a skunk will cause it to do a handstand. If the player does not retreat or advances closer, the skunk will release its stink. In real life, Skunk spray is liquid, but to fit the feel (and requirements) of the game it would be a gas similar to dragon's breath. Collecting the Stink would also be done in the same way.
Skunk Stink will grant nausea and blindness that cannot be cured by Milk, but only with Tomato Soup, specifically placing three bowls in a Cauldron and then stepping in it. Tomatoes would be a new crop grown on Farmland (they may also be thrown).
Taking the Skunk Stink and brewing it with Awkward Potions creates a Potion of Blindness, which would enhance PVP but also make mob's pathfinding range smaller and less accurate.
In conclusion, Skunks should be added because they already exist in the Minecraft universe, and there is not currently a way to obtain blindness in survival mode. Tomatoes should be added to widen the amount of food sources in the game and would be a fun way to reference common tall tales like Minecraft used to during its early days. (Yes, I know bathing in tomato soup doesn't work, but carrots don't enhance vision, either, yet that still is a feature).
