  That would be imbalanced. Trims are intentionally cosmetic and won't offer gameplay advantages.

  Trims are too expensive for just cosmetic purposes.

  But the "Thing" banner pattern is also expensive. Fashion in Minecraft, like in real life, can be ridiculously expensive with little to no functional benefit.
  
  Plus, it'd defeat the purpose of having only gold armor, one of the least durable armors in the game, be usable to pacify piglins. Though I admit it would be a cool goal for players to work toward, I think it'd go against the design philosophy the developers had intended.

  Although this does completely and utterly kill the idea of wearing gold in the nether being an intentional player nerf by Mojang, if this suggested feature wasn’t added it would be quite the inconsistency with pigmen.
