Maybe he could trade you maps to find more sites.

My idea: Archaeologist villagers don't spawn naturally, you need to craft their working station.

This working station is crafted with materials you find in the new Trail Ruins

The archaeologist villager can be used to get armor trims, maps to archaeology sites, suspicious sand and gravel with random loot, and maybe even Netherite Upgrade smithing templates, being an safer alternative to bastions (think about how important mending villagers are, archaeologists should be something like that).

However, the working station is difficult to obtain, since its materials are a rare find.

The Archeology Villager could also have a few contrasting traits from that of other villagers. I say this because if he is at the Archeology site, he could be a bit more related to the ancestors of the ancient trails. Much like how the Wandering Trader has a different texture and carries 2 llamas by a lead!

Also, the pottery shard labeled, "Friend Pottery Shard" (clearly a villager) could be what this villager 10% looks like! For example:

    -A larger unibrow

-Has a bit of hair? It is a bit of a reach honestly, but it would be very defined as no other villagers have this trait.

The normal traits of the villager would be very important to the theme of Tales and Trails as he would have a sachel filled with pottery shards, armor trims, and a rolled-up map. Also, the person in the comment section with the Archeology bench idea? Absolutely genius! You are what Minecraft needs for updates!  Another idea that might be a slight reach, although not as much as the hair, but an ancient book traded by the Archeology Villager written by the ancestors that might give clues about the construction of the trails, ancient cities being related, etc.

When a new update comes out, there could also be more shards added, probably 2 each, to add to what the ancestors had and maybe some things that show imminent doom from the depths of the warden.

    Thanks for Listening! Warm regards,

    TB
