The Elytra Upgrade Template

Alongside the introduction of the "Netherite Upgrade Template" in 1.20, a new "Elytra Equip Template" should be added to the game. This template would function similar to how the Netherite upgrade does but can only be done to a chestplate with an unenchanted elytra.

To balance this, the "Elytra Equip Template" would only be dropped by an Ender Dragon that has been respawned by the player. This would give more incentive to respawn the dragon, which many players rarely do. The drop rate would be 100% for one template, with a 15% chance to spawn another for each player that participated in the fight.

After using the Template, the equipped elytra would function similarly to Soul Speed and eat away at the chestplate's durability during flight. 

I believe adding the "Elytra Equip Template" would serve as a fantastic post/end game goal for players that have achieved so much in their world.
