Such a tiny detail, I know. But I remember being so excited when they were visible in concept art for the new birch biomes from 1.19. They would be such a cute decoration detail in any nature-themed build and would bring so much life to any forest biome, making them feel more like complete and thriving environments, and adding a bit more detail to the somewhat limited forest spaces.
