Let's talk about the Cherry Blossom Biome!

There's a brand-new biome coming to Minecraft in update 1.20 - the Cherry Blossom biome. Available to try out now in Java snapshot and coming later to Bedrock preview, this biome is filled with beautiful cherry blossom trees. 

These trees come with a full wood set that is perfect for builders partial to a bit of pink, and you can even plant your own cherry blossom trees using saplings found in the biome. 

As with other 1.20 features, we're still developing and iterating on the cherry blossom biome and would love to hear general thoughts and feedback, as well as how you feel about the new wood set from a visual standpoint.

    I've really enjoyed the new Minecraft biome when testing out the new snapshot, but there are some things I would like changed:

    1. The trees
    The leaves are too square, unlike the "Japanese cherry blossom trees", that arch and have lots of branches. A good example of trees whos leaves aren't square are azalea trees, that just look amazing. They'd also look much better if the trees were closer together, leaving little room for sunlight to pass and had branches going diagonally up instead of horizonally then up. They'd also look good if they had roots just like the Mangrove trees, but smaller.

    2. The texture on the cherry blossom leaves
    The flowers on the leaf look great, but I personally dislike the green leaves mixed in with the pink, as cherry blossoms do not have green leaves, only pink ones.

    3. The textures on cherry wood planks and its doors/trapdoors
    The textures are too bright, with very little contrast, unlike crimson or oak planks. Plus the colour pallet on the trapdoor and door do not match the planks. I do like the stripped wood and the trapdoor and door design.

    4. Adding lakes / ponds / waterfalls

    The biome looks kind of bland, it'd look a lot better with more variety and features, such as ponds with frogs and fish.

    Questions:
    Will it be able to snow in cherry blossom biomes?
    Will hostile mobs spawn in cherry blossom biomes? It'd be nicer if there were no hostile mobs in the biome, since it feels like more of a comforting biome to stay in, that gives off a relaxing vibe.

    Hello Minecraft team! I believe that something new needs to be added alongside this biome to make it stand out more from regular forests. Right now it’s just kind of a pink version of all the woodsy areas we already have, so I think there should be something to tell it apart.

    You could maybe add more foliage, like a couple people suggested, or a new mob that spawns only in this biome. Different tree variants, different grass, maybe floating pink petals could occasionally go across your screen like snow or rain does?

    I know realistically not all of these things can be added (though I wish they could), but I think choosing one or two could really help set this biome apart!

    Hello mojang I loves this new update yes but it feels empty like something missing the grass type just feels wrong so maybe and a pink and say it’s filled with large amount of cherry blossom flowers and a structure too as seen by other people they main thing they want is Chinese and Japanese culture to be in this in any way so maybe a Japanese or Chinese structure there and maybe new animals making the feeling of this place and oasis that Mother Nature is full of this seems like a wonderful idea to me but you tell me your thoughts.

    Cherry tree leaves should drop cherries in the same way Oak leaves can drop apples on decay. They'd serve two purposes, A light snack and a source of red dye.

    Also make grass block and water which are in cherry blossom biome become more unique (be more brighten, or try #00FF7F, a natual spring green! :D), and generate a bit of larger cherry blossom trees randomly

    So I think the new trees are cool and all but without some kind of new animal or mob, possibly something out of Japanese mythology or like a giant salamander or something

    Red pandas can be exclusive mobs here. Flowers are a part of a red panda's diet. Cherry blossoms are viable food for them. As an addition, they could also be fed bamboo and various fruits.

    In terms of environment, It feels like the biome has been copy and pasted on the plains or oak biome.

    -Lighter grass colors, to differentiate it like all the other biomes have. or, maybe even a new grass block type like the mushroom islands and big spruce have.  

    -A higher chance of spawning pink sheep?  :)

    -Just more focus on a landscape, or an environment that comes with theese trees. (hillier? little baby rivers?  rocks?) 

    Overall though, its really pretty and super cheery. The saplings are amazing, too.

    Can you make the grass yellow or some other color, because the bright green doesn't really fit the color pallet of the trees that well, and it looks too much like plains of flower forest biome. I think the new biome needs a new grass color to distinguish it from other biomes.

    Since Cherry Blossom Trees are thought of a a Chinese and Japanese thing, maybe you can also add the Bonsai Tree.

    please make this biome larger,as it's often generating in very small pieces.As you can see,there is a high possibility to find a Cherry Grove Biome with only a few or even no trees,which is odd for the environment.
    Moreover,there isn't any specific structure in this biome.

    Hope working out this problem!

    The biome is great but I feel it's missing just one more unique thing to make it stand out - I think adding Mooblooms or Moolips from Minecraft Earth would be a perfect addition! A fan-loved concept from back in the mob vote that many were heartbroken over it's loss.

    Hello. I think that pink petals should also appear in diferent biomes (in other colours), becouse in my opinion they are amazing and it would be wonderful if they beautified our world. (for example birch / oak forest)

    Hi Minecraft Team ! I think the biome should get structures (a village or a temple) because it feels terribly empty ! Also an exclusive mob to this biome like a red panda or/and koi fish would be so nice (and cute). And finally, it should get at least an unique villagers design like all the others biome. All of this would deeply improve the biome and the player experience !

    Hello, I just wanted to recommend the white variation of the cherry blossoms. I loved that you decided to add cherry blossoms in the game as it is my favorite tree type, but when I saw the snapshot it felt weird, like something missing, and that of course is the white cherry blossoms. I think it better present the nice, clean, and peaceful aesthetic while bring out the beauty of the cherry blossoms forest in the game. It would bring more creative freedom and more ideas for future builds come. Thank you for taking the time the read this suggestion.

    The chest boats for this new wood just looks bad almost just tacky it doesn’t match the wood type used for chests honestly looks like garbage with the beautiful light pink wood of the cherry trees it’s just bad. I’m not asking for all wood types to choose for chests. That’s been suggested since like forever ago. But is there anything you guys could do to make the boat chests to look easier on the eyes. I can deal with all the other varieties of boat chests y’all have given us but the mangrove chest boat is eh could always go better together then it does now but the cherry blossom wood used on the boat it’s gorgeous but throwing that color chest on it. It’s bad. Is there anything that could be done to modify the chest to just go better , flow better with the chest

    I absolutely adore the new wood set. The only thing that would be an improvement for me would be changing the style of it from this cottage/farmhouse type of vibe to a more oriental approach. As for the biome itself, it feels like it's missing something, especially since they're typically on the smaller side and are harder to find. Once I get the wood, the biome itself doesn't offer a whole lot beyond it being pretty. That being said, if the appeal of this biome is its beauty, then maybe play up on that a bit more. Even with simple things, like maybe pinkish or golden atmospheric changes, water features such as lakes, rivers, and waterfalls could be abundant. I also think the biome could definitely use some more cute mobs! There are some but I feel like there could be more! Even adding something like birds or butterflies would tie things together a bit more cohesively. Overall, awesome biome addition!

    Add some butterflies (a little larger than the fireflies) and with several possible color and pattern combinations.

    The leaves are nice, but I don’t like the wood color, pretty unrealistic. Plus, it’s pink, not a very good color to build with

    I really want a specific mob to this biome.

    And, since Mojang apparently cares about whether that mob can get poisoned by that item or not: (*cough* fireflies *cough*)

    Cardinals and bluejay birds peck around the cherry blossom trees when they bloom. I don't think Minecraft has enough birds, I want more varieties of birds I can tame. And like the jungle, cherry blossom biomes are quite rare, so it would be harder to find those pretty birds. It's a simple change, basically change the texture of the jungle parrots and move their spawn location (I think, I'm not a coder). Maybe you have to tame the birds with cherries or cherry blossom petals?

    Koi fish! A few people have said this already but I really want the addition of koi fish. It would make the biome much better. And give them variants, please.

    add lotus flowers to go on top of lily pads which grow in little ponds with koi fish and flower petals on the water maybe some frogs too

    It's very cute biome! But it feels a little empty. Adding some sort of fog effect to this biome would make it lively. I love the new cherry blossom leaves, but the spots of green in them feel somewhat out of place to me. I think the leaves would be better off with just the pink. The pink leaves are too opaque for this tree, if the transparency is increased, it would look cool! I also think the grass color should be changed to fit the color palette better. The texture for the falling leaves could be more leaf-like. Adding a new moo-bloom like mob that suits this biome (Maybe a pink colored cow?). Last, but not the least, if possible MOJANG, please add some structures into this biome: Like a Cherry Blossom Village, with Japanese styled houses with doors like Shoji (Sliding doors), and a Japanese temple...

    Nevertheless, the biome is still pretty awesome! Thanks Mojang.

    There should be grass block color that fits the theme of the biome and plants as well. This will definitely bring more beauty and liveliness to the biome.
