When redstone activated, it stays on activated mode and emit light, this can be applied to redstone-inlayed armor, which means the redstone-inlayed armor can be activate (or powered so can say) by the activated (powered) redstone, then the powered redstone-inlayed armor can activate (power) the other redstones or redstone tools when player touch the redstone or the redstone tools, for example, player can sit in the minecart and activate the powered rail when minecart pass the powered rail, player can also run into a redstone machine with redstone-inlayed armor to test the redstone "wires" and find the problem. Just like redstone torch, when the powered redstone-inlayed armor get powered by redstone again, it will become uncharged, so player can freely switiched the armor into uncharged no light mode

There needs to be a lot more variation here. Iron and diamond  being identical just won't work, the lapis lazuli and nether quartz are different, but could still have MORE uses like increasing the amount mending will fix your armor per xp orb. I also noticed there is no one for giving the armor more durability, which would be both cool and easy to program. Redstone and amethyst though, they just seem completely useless and need to be better

bruh I was seconds from posting something exactly like this, though I don't know about anything increasing damage reduction, or anything that is already resolved by an enchantment. was gonna say this:

Iron - reduces damage dealt by head colisions, such as anvils and falling stalagtites, or idk reduces hunger usage? idk

Gold - wont be attacked by piglins

Copper - reduce lightning damage, as well as that of guardian lasers

Diamond - idk, reduces void damage for all i know

Netherite - knockback resistance and/or item doesn't burn in lava

Lapis lazuli - increases experience picked up while wearing this

Nether Quartz - reduces suffocation damage or freeze damage idk

Emerald - gives you a better reputation around villages, and iron golems will give you flowers :)

Amethyst - reduce the damage of poisons and harmful potion effects, or just glows purple(the glow ink kind of glow)

Redstone - glows red (the glow squid kind of glow) while standing on powered redstone

They’ve already stated they will not be added uses to armour trims beyond cosmetic differences
