Mobs should be afraid of the Deep Dark because they don't want to spawn the Warden. Even a hostile mob tracking a player should stop before entering the biome. Mobs that find themselves in the Deep Dark (boat, lead et cetera) try to pathfind out as soon as they are able to.
Exceptions:
- Triggered Enderman. They lose any instinct for self-preservation as they'll attack anything that triggers them, no matter what danger doing so puts them in (Ender Dragon, Wither)
- Tamed pets are still scared, but will follow the player anyway as they normally do. If the player logs out without making the pet sit, the pet will try to pathfind out if loaded by another player
- The Wither is strong so it isn't afraid, even if it should be
- The Ender Dragon is also not afraid for the same reason the Wither isn't
- Golems because they are closer to robots than "living" mobs
