The battle of the age old obsidian vs the relatively new Netherite blocks has been in favor of obsidian because of multiple factors, including obsidian's renewability and usefulness for end crystals. While the one true advantage Netherite has is appearance and being moveable by pistons.
Perhaps Netherite could be given a new addition to make it more of a "endgame" material, Netherite should be Wither proof (maybe even dragon proof too)...
Similar to End portal frames and Bedrock. Netherite blocks should be immune to the Withers blue skulls allowing withers to be fully containable in netherite, this could be used in Redstone, traps, or just having a nametagged wither boss bar around your base, all without having to worry the Wither escaping.
The one potential flaw i see with making Netherite Wither proof is trapping withers to kill them would be much easier with this. Another change making Withers not take suffocation damage or being able to attack players directly next to them if being hit could help
