that sounds like a great idea! Mods are kinda lame if they don't work. like rock golems that live underground! ice golems (not to be confused with snow golem <---- snowman) that protect ice villages! that sounds awesome!

I agree but they can't just be stronger iron golems. They have to be unique.

I think there is no more because Mojang isn't approaching them just right. For the Mob Vote both times Golems were on the list they lost to a mob that brought utility or new lore/items of interest.

Classical Golems are constructed for a purpose, a niche that is beneficial for the maker. Iron golems are melee defense, and Snow Golems (an almost useful) ranged defense. The copper and tuff while cute lacked a general gameplay use. Golems need utility purposes to win, being a random button pusher (when a chicken and pressure plates work) or a moving item frame isn't general enough. Now both golems displayed awesome mechanics that can balance gameplay with more powerful golems.

So what are niches, that Golems could be used?

-Smart Turrent (variation of range Defense), they stay in 1 spot (16 block range) so either weather/rust or need to be refilled with ammunition for balance.

-Alerting Guard (tweak the Glare idea), can walk along a light path (stays in light level edge) and "alarms" at hostiles near drawing iron golems to it. If you lead it with a leash it's inactive unless in a lite area, but could watch your back and alarm while mining.

-Harvesters/sorters (quality of life grinders), farming, fishing, lumber, auto farmers, that take "naps" like the tuff golem does would give a ton of useful golems each could have unique conditions on top of controls, but fill in that niche of reducing grind for players.

While I would like to have more golems, what would these do? Keep in mind that all golems are spawned by being constructed out of blocks and are aligned with the player. The way you describe the magma golem seems to imply that it would spawn naturally and attack the player. The only evil golems in the franchise are the redstone golems in dungeons.

Mojang is also aware that more golems would be good for the game, as they have included them in mob votes the last two years, (though they both unfortunately lost. I still can't believe the tuff golem lost to the rascal.)
