Sometime in the past few months at least, typing in game with a controller was changed, and simply made objectively worse. Before the change, and for the past several years of the game, when you typed with a controller a keyboard would come up under whatever in game box you where typing in; and so, when you typed, you could see changes in real time. i.e when typing in the creative menu search bar, you would see the new results with each letter typed; or as another example, when typing in chat to write a command, you could see the command suggestions and help when typing, so you knew what you needed to include for the command to work.
Now though, whenever you try to type with a controller, an xbox text box comes up for you to type in, overlaid over the game. So whenever you start typing something, you don't see what's happening or get any help. When typing commands, you can't see any of the suggestions. When typing into the search bar, you don't see a refreshed list of results while typing. And worst of all, when attempting to write a sign or book, you get a box come up for each new line on the sign. This means you can't see if you've gone over the character limit for that line. It means you can't go back to make changes to previous lines. It means typing anything takes far far longer than it did. And most of all, it honestly makes me not want to play the game anymore, because it's such a chore to type now.
Please go back to the old way of typing with a controller.
