chiseled bookshelves should emit a stronger redstone signal depending on how many pages / characters are written in the book, this could allow for complex contraptions, almost like passwords for hidden rooms and secret rooms that only people who know the correct bookshelf and how many characters to put it can access, which is a lot more "secret" than just taking a book out of a bookshelf to access a hidden room.
