What if you could wear an ominous banner on your head to trick pillagers? They would still attack you if you start a fight, similar to piglins and gold armour. Might make raids too easy though...

In order to fix any issues it might cause with texture packs, beds could have their own texture for each pattern, which would help it to fit on a bed properly as well.

Gamerule that removes hunger
A gamerule should be added which removes hunger and makes things work closer to before Java Beta 1.8, where the hunger bar is removed, and food heals the amount it would have filled the hunger bar....
