A GUI seems problematic if these are only for books, otherwise any item can be stored in these.

What if each book type displayed their own texture for better recognition (like enchanted books are purple, book and quill are brown, and regular books are any other random colour)?

In the stronghold library, Woodland Mansion and all villages that have librarians, you should add at least one or two chiseled bookshelves containing enchanted books. It would give a far greater incentive to visit these places!

There should be a special UI for chiseled bookshelves.

The functionality is fine, but the texture feels too plastic-y, in my opinion.

What if it had a GUI where the 6 slots only accept the three book types and no other items? Like how the enchanting table only accepts lapis in the one slot.

I think the chiseled bookshelf needs a gui like a chest but smaller like a llama.

The texture is dark so enchanted books should like lit it up likes its giving some enchanted to the bookshelf itself.

These bookshelves are a step in the right direction for Minecraft, giving actual functional furniture for players, and I hope there's more interactable shelves, crates and whatnot in the future. Having to build furniture using buttons and item frames look ugly, and makes the game laggy in large amounts.

Please allow Chisled Bookshelves to be loaded and unloaded using hoppers and dispensers.

It is a great addition to minecraft and we need more things like this. The only down side is that it can only hold 6 books where as bookshelves look like there's about 20 or more books it should hold at least 6 more

I think it should be 8 books per bookshelf. Also, enchanted books should have a tint on the book texture.

Disagree on needing chest UI. Being able to put books in/out directly makes it unique and how a bookshelf actually works.

More books would be good plus the scaling of books in regular bookcase would match better. Also, obviously being able to access each book slot individually would be great, as well as texture for book in slot matching the book in the slot.

And hopper/dispenser functionality would be great.

These Bookshelf are Great! But, I think when we put a enchanted book in the Bookshelf. Each Enchanted Book should be a different color or design! Frost Walker would be a blue book and Fire Aspect would be a Red book with Flames!

I think it would be a great idea to replace most of the bookshelves in stronghold libraries with chiseled bookshelves, and remove the loot chests altogether. The chiseled bookshelves would hold books, and would occasionally hold an enchanted book or a book and quill. Instead of just walking in, breaking a couple cobwebs, and taking the enchanted books from the chests, players would need to thoroughly clear out the cobwebs to check all the bookshelves for the special loot that could be hiding amongst the ordinary books. It would make the libraries much less generic and offer a fun challenge when looting them.

Should add the ability to put other display items on there as well! Even if it's only a few (think potions and mob heads!) Also, a UI similar to enchanting tables to see what books/items are inside!

The fact that you can't pull out individual books from the slot you are looking at is very disappointing. The bookshelf is far less useful than just a chest of books.

I would like to see chiseled bookshelves count towards an enchanting table.

This seems like a great opportunity to have more diverse options for a full enchanting table setup, and could even add some handy book storage within reach of your enchanting table.

Another user had a similar comment suggesting the bookshelves should be full. Personally, I'd prefer if you can move books in and out of the shelves and still have them count.

(P.S. If the intent is to gate high level enchanting behind how many books the player has collected, then I'd recommend working a lectern or bookshelf into the crafting recipe for chiseled bookshelves.)

Ability to use for enchanting table but unlike normal bookshelves that have only 3 books you can reach level 30 with the chiseled ones with only 7 because they contain 6 books

Very good, however, I think it could be used on both sides, I'm imagining the corridors of a library but as it is now the shelves would have to be two blocks wide because we can only put books on one side, if you could use them on both sides bookshelves would be one block wide with 6 books on each side. As for the books, I think that, as some have said here, each one has to have a unique texture so that we can identify them on the shelf or even a way to customize them and we can only take out the book that the mouse is pointing to not having to empty the shelf to take out the last book.

A little annoying that whence you have the items required to make a chiseled bookshelf it doesn't show up in the recipe book, at least not yet. Even when looking at it while at a crafting table it doesn't appear. Might need to look into fixing that oversight.

You should be able to choose which book you grab by the one you look at instead of automatically choosing the last one and vice versa for placing the books in the shelf.

I would like to be able to change the color of my books in the bookshelves with dye and/or gold/iron nuggets for buckles on the books and the color of the leather. I would also like to be able to pick a specific book from the bookshelf if I clicked on a specific book.

What if we could also store maps in chiseled bookshelf? Or in similar block

The book and quill doesn't save your written text, but I can't even sign a book and quill in Minecraft preview. So I guess it's not just the Chiseled bookshelves are the only issue.

The books look so thick, and its weird. I think it would be better if we could place 2 more on it, so the books are thinner. Also 6 is a small amount for bookshelves when the original holds like 15. I think it should have a chest gui too so we can tell what books we are grabbing. Plus depending on the type of book the texture should be different. Enchanted books would shimmer, normal books would be a blank color, a book in quill could have a band around it. White if it isn't completed, and gold if it is. Also say someone mentioning dying books, and that would be so cool! Also would love different wood versions for normal, and chiseled shelves

I think it should be possible to use chiseled bookshelf with an enchanting table. Maybe make it so they have to be full. I mean if comparators can detect why not enchant tables? Normal bookshelves have 3 books but these would need 6, so that will be a balancing factor. Someone might not use any chisled at all while some might use both. It should be possible to do both right? Just like how you can have random mineral beacon bases? It just needs to fit the configuration. So an enchant table can detect both chiseled and normal bookshelves but it'll consider unfilled bookshelves as empty block space?
