Change tier-based armor progression to task-specific
Diamond armor and now netherite armor are the most protective armor that makes any other armor undesirable. We've had some changes to task-specific on leather and gold armor, but that's only for one piece of armor at a time (only one gold piece to be friends with piglins, one piece of leather to avoid freezing), which means that all other pieces of armor can be discarded.
The idea is still to keep some of the tier-based progression aspect and the good protection of diamond and netherite armor, but making other armors better at some tasks.
Leather armor could protect more against environmental damage, such as fire and maybe kinetic and fall damage (making elytra flying more safe).
Gold armor could protect better against magic and/or enchantments (like having a chance negating some enchantments effects like fire aspect or sharpness)
With everything we have in the game so far, these two armors are all I have to exemplify my point.
This could be implemented through enchantments that are only obtainable in certain sets. Like an enchantment for magic protection for gold armor that can't go in others armors, but this armor needs to be way better than the default protection on diamond and netherithe sets at this specific task.
