Feedback on Java Experimental Combat Snapshot 8
I found that some of the changes are rather drastic and many might not like that the combat system had changed again and old rules are broken if it is added in the official updates.
Firstly, axes should still have the same damage, reach and recharge the same as now. If it's too OP, only nerf by changing ONLY 1 of those aspects. Only make it not accept sharpness so that smite and bane of athropods will be buffed. Make axes go through the normal recharge when it misses
Secondly, unless adding a new type of shield, let the shield block all damage so that people will use it as off-hand in combat instead of totems. Even if it is caused by a player, it should block all explosion damage.
Thirdly, allow attack when recharge is not full, remove ' charged attack', remove attack key holding down ability, and make slashing through grass/vines only deal half damage.
Fourthly, make high saturation give high regen boost, and show saturation bar. This makes saturation important.
Lastly and most importantly, make your health regen only at 18 hunger points. This number was set at beta and will cause confusion when changed
