As of 22w16b, Sculk Shriekers don't summon a Warden when one is already nearby (48 blocks from the Shrieker). This is a logical decision as summoning several Wardens within a small area may be too overwhelming. However, instead of the Shrieker staying silent when a Warden is already close, I think it can double as an alarm system!
My suggestion is that the Sculk Shrieker should shriek even with a Warden close by, but instead of summoning another Warden, the obviously deafening shriek instantly alerts nearby Wardens to the player's position and prompts them to wander towards it. It could also raise the anger level of the Wardens considerably. This keeps players on their toes even when they are out of a Warden's detection range, and it makes some sense as Sculk Shriekers already act as "tripwire" up until the Warden emerges.
