A good sink for echo shards would be allowing players to create sound disks of their own. Now these discs won't be recording full songs but instead will take sound clips from mobs, items, blocks, etc. For example, right clicking the disc on a chicken will have the disc store a random sound that can be made by the chicken. Same goes with blocks like the amethyst block, and for items it's simply putting said item you want to store a sound of in the crafting grid and crafting the disc with the stored sound (the item will not be used but the disc will). Sound discs work like normal music discs and can be then put into jukeboxes to play the sound it recorded, and it can even play the sound again when it's powered by redstone (maybe it should also be possible to change the pitch). Why is this useful? Well it's not but it's a really good sink for echo shards since there's so many sounds to record in the world of Minecraft and it's going to be a fun task for certain people to try to get them all. Plus this can work in combination with noteblocks to have extra sounds in your noteblock music. Or maybe it can be used to prank your friends by playing the sound of a creeper about to explode.
Also to clarify, the sounds will be taken straight out of the game files in Minecraft and not actually record anything. For example "recording" a cow with the disc will have the disc have a sound the cow can make that's from the game files and not actually record the current sound the cow is making.
