For many years, the most controversial aspect of minecraft has been it’s pvp mechanic. The pvp system used before the original combat update was one that favored spam clicking (1.8/1.7) and when it was replaced with a system made primarily for single-player (1.9+ pvp) , many gamers (including myself) refused to play newer versions for the pvp. Once mojang realized its newer versions were losing players due to the pvp system, they started to create a new pvp system, (combat update v2) however as it is now, the update will fail because while it reintroduces spam clicking and keeps timing; it does it in such a way that (in it’s current form) ruins the baseline for both versions of pvp. While most people don’t know this, reach is actually one of the most important aspects of 1.8. It allows players to combo and just allows 1.8 pvp in general to work. Similar with 1.9+ pvp because you must hit your opponent inside their reach and quickly step out. Currently in the pvp, there is a huge reach difference that is way too overpowered. To fix this, all reach should be set to 3 blocks with charged attacks having an extra half block of it to make timing work. This would be a legitimate system that both 1.9 and 1.8 players would play because it would gain 1.8 players and also 1.9 players because it would be balanced for both versions.
