Enchantment mechanic - Divination
When talking about combat, we can never forget about what can be considered the most notable of topics:
Enchantments, something that goes hand-In-hand with combat, are currently in a rough state. While some may argue that Instant health potions are also overpowered (which could be balanced by having them heal 3 and 5 points instead of 4 and 6 per level.), enchantments are not only overpowered, but in some cases, also seem to make strategy almost pointless. for example, maxed out enchanted Netherite Armor (EX: Protection IV + Unbreaking III + mending) makes PVP battles take forever and makes survival mode more of a grind for max enchantments rather than a challenge in the late-game.
To combat this and keep the whole “survival” aspect in both PVE and PVP, a new mechanic should be Implemented: Divination. Essentially, with each tool, armor, or weapon crafted, they will have a set Divination, or “DV”, which will change the Maximum number of Enchantments and the strongest level of said enchantment the Item can handle. With this in mind, here's a sort of comparison.
Leather / Wood: 0 DV
Stone/Chainmail: 1 DV
Gold: 5 DV (can get maxed enchantments)
Iron: 3 DV
Misc. (bows, elytras, etc.): 3 DV (Power IV and V should be removed in this process).
Diamond/Netherite: 2 DV
