Creating community engagement, and making everyone show up to the thing to cast their vote is great for keeping us interested.
what is not great, is showing us mostly completed mob designs then forcing us to choose only one.
Let's say there's a 33/33/34% split in votes. What you've done is made 66% of your players not get mob that they could have had, and wanted over the other options. Some of the players will be quite disappointed. Some may not, but they still lost their choice.
This only creates an unnecessary divide amongst players. Players have to pick a side. They can only be excited for one thing. and if they choose wrong, then they were excited for nothing.
I've been reading on twitter, and it's been pretty civil. But it's not "wow this mob looks really cool, i'm super excited!". Instead, it's "you had better vote for this mob because otherwise i'll be disappointed".
Instead of forcing players to choose, instead, just put them all in the game. This year, they're all great ideas, and great designs. And Cute! But there's no reason why we can't have all 3. they don't conflict with one another. if creating engagement before minecraft live is important, you can release 3 teaser tweets, featuring only an image, to get people's imagination running. then show them off during the show!
If Minecraft, the best-selling game of ALL TIME, can't get enough work done to add 3 mobs instead of 1, then that's a much bigger problem than the scope of this Feedback post.
