While I think that easy difficulty is fine, the later difficulties don’t feel right. I feel that this is a big case in hard mode, where the mobs are just thrown at you, if the mobs gained new abilities or were just more intriguing to fight, it would be way better than just pouring tons of them on the player.
Structures should also have a higher spawn rate, it helps them build an impression, and the mood (when caves sounds play) should increase faster and be more random at normal and hard so that the game also feels less welcoming and more tough, as that’s what you asked for, and why you’re not on easy.
And don’t tell me “but kids wanna do it too!”, everyone starts somewhere everywhere, and if they have to play an easier difficulty, that’s that.
