Minecraft's combat is being revamped for the better, but if there's one thing I'm finding inconsistent, it's that many players are more so inclined to improve on PVP rather than PVE, rather than trying to work with BOTH. with that being said, I wish to introduce a mechanic that may bring both to a whole new level: Vigor
Vigor is a bar that is seen as a yellow outline over the hunger bar as both are essentially a form of stamina, and will usually stand at 5 shanks. this very meter is hidden within mobs, but it can be read when a target has high Vigor, Indicated with a yellow outline around their body. here are some notes to consider when talking about this meter:
- gaining Vigor can be done by: landing successful hits, surviving a strong attack (8+ damage), using healing methods, killing a mob, eating food and using shields (for players).
- Vigor can be lost by: taking lesser damage (1-7 damage), missing an attack, gaining negative status effects, breaking your armor, tools, or shield, and eating less often (players only)
- with at least 8 shanks, mobs can use special abilities, for example: skeletons and pillagers being able to do a "Jumpshot", firing 3 arrows after launching upward, Brutes and Vindicators being able to "dash" for 3 blocks, and zombies being able to resurrect (only once). meanwhile players can only land critical hits If they have High Vigor.
- all mobs and players with low Vigor (0-2.5 shanks), will suffer a 1.5 cooldown increase, making them attack slower.
