I was imagining a copper object that could be crafted, but is a bit of work.
Using copper, and not that much, and perhaps one of the specialist tables, you could create a unique seal.
When you craft the seal, it is blank, like a map. Then, when you want to design the seal, you can do one of two things. You can duplicate an existing seal, or you can edit a unique seal. You can work on it now or later, or again. To work on the seal, you use the table, or perhaps just the seal itself,, and you "warp" into a small world that is as many blocks square as the resolution of the seal. You can place blocks or remove blocks as in creative mode, but they are only copper blocks. There is no limit to the blocks you can access, as they are merely part of the seal. Then, when you "warp" back out,, the seal is your custom design. Should the seal be 2d or some limited 3d height?? I don't know,, it should at least look good 2d.
You can put the seal into a picture frame over a door, perhaps there is a way to put it on banners in a color, you can combine it with your armor or shield. It is not in the terminal. The seal would corrode just like copper blocks, perhaps corroding one block of resolution at a time, just like normal copper blocks, and also work with beeswax. The resolution would be high enough for plenty of uniqueness,, probably selectable between the resolution of a face, and a higher one that allows for more curvature, selected on crafting, or perhaps a result of the ingredients.
