I've started playing the new experimental 1.18 snapshot. It is absolutely amazing, I love the huge caves and crazy new generation. However there was something I thought could use some work. As incredible as it is, I think the world variation should be toned down just a little. When I first loaded in the world I was greeted to a small mountainous desert next to an ocean with a desert temple in the middle of it! (seriously it was in the ocean) There was snow covering parts of the desert and right next to it was small bit of almost every other biome! I really love this but I think it would be nice if different biomes could only reach a certain height (like how deserts are usually flat) and certain biomes could not be right next to each other. This is not a new issue but I feel like this update would be a great time to fix it. I like the small biomes but they only work in some cases. Like a dark oak forest in a flower forest or snowy mountains and meadows, just not a snow forest in a desert. So maybe less biomes all at once and only some are allowed to be next to each other. Then each biome has a set of other biomes it can cross with to make the world look more natural. But other than this I think the huge mountains and caves are gorgeous and I can't wait for the final result. Even in an experimental snapshot, I have already been blown away by this new terrain generation and I can't wait to see the final result! Thanks :D
