I do have a Microsoft account (needed for a BYOD work laptop), but I'd really rather continue to use my old login for playing Minecraft. I don't have an XBOX, I have no interest in playing any XBOX games, I don't want to get a gamertag (whatever that is), and I greatly dislike the amount of personal information that is contained in the MS account vs. the Mojang account (email and password).
How would multiple accounts even work now? I know that it's been said that users can just get or make multiple MS accounts, but again, that's a lot more personal information getting multiplied out there and these things are used as logins across Microsoft devices. Before this update happened I was under the impression that you were supposed to have just 1 MS account for all your stuff. Most importantly, allowing multiple accounts reverts any "accountability" that was supposed to be added since either way the user can just make a new one (albeit having to buy a new game copy, but that didn't change either).
(This was not a suggestion to let users only have one MC account; I'm not one of those people, but these are important to a lot of LPers.)
I'd much rather have a single Mojang account that can't be used to instantly take control over my non-Minecraft stuff (unless I reused a password, which I've been savvy enough NOT to) and that only works with this game. Plus, I don't have to share all my personal data, JUST an email and password. I find that much more comfortable and secure.
