Bedrock Dedicated server (alpha)

I really love the idea of the dedicated bedrock server. I think it is great. I installed it yesterday and had it running within a few minutes. The only tricky parts were 1) setting up port forwarding on my router (19132 - 19133) and 2) using the command on "cmd" console to allow me to play on the same PC as my server is running. I absolutely love the ability to run my own server. I really hope that Miscrosofty/Mojang develop and support this so that the community becomes aware and keeps making this better and better. I realize that realms makes money for them (i also subscribe and pay for a realm too) but the possibilities of running your own bedrock server are so much better than realms. (32 chunk render distance or even MORE etc). Please microsoft, make the server for bedrock a huge and important part of the development and advertise / publicize it. It will help to maintain a string user base and bring more people together playing minecraft. If you are out there paying for a realm on bedrock, try setting up a test server using the alpha bedrock software and having your realm members try it out. Youll love it.

    what's the point of making a dedicated server when your friends on console don't even have the option to join? the whole point of hosting a server is to be able to play with friends?? obviously there are endless possibilities as seen though the java servers. just seems like if you wanted to test it out properly then allowing console players to join seems kind of important.. I have run my own java server for years now and loved it. however most of my friends only have bedrock so when I found out about dedicated bedrock servers I knew I had to make one. so I spent like 2 days creating this server in bedrock (which is clearly inferior to java.. I obviously don't understand what's so hard about making bedrock function like java does ) just to find out that my friends on Xbox cant even join my server. Hopefully Mojang/Microsoft can figure out that servers are useless without the ability for people to join them.. I realize its alpha but again, what's the point, everything should already be there from the java edition. side note, I do appreciate that they are going to be bundling java and bedrock together for purchase. however, most people that I know that are interested in getting one or the other, already have one or the other so maybe they can do something for the people who already enjoy Minecraft and want to expand their horizons.
