minecraft in vr doesn't work!

I've had it working plenty of times before but now when I try to use vr, it tells me to update to windows 10 1809 and download minecraft from the windows store, then tells me to go to Settings -> General -> unknown sources and switch it to on.  Then it asks me if I want to play or to cancel, I press play and it just closes the game, then on my desktop minecraft launches itself and doesn't play through my oculus headset.  I'm stumped, tried everything, changed registry, reinstalled everything, updated windows and it still does exactly the same thing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
