There is a lot of potential for that. Making the Deep Dark structure chests have a high chance of containing Ender Pearls would make stealth something you might want to do while speedrunning. There could be a ton of strategy to speed running if this happens. Such a great idea!

I would actually suggest a higher spawn rate of endermen in deeper parts of the world, as endermen are really beefy enemies which brings the challenge aspect up as compared to a chest you can get everything from. Not saying you suggested this, but relying on a singular chest in a singular structure or even multiple structures to have enough ender pearls to fill the end portal on a random seed is a little outrageous, and I sort of came to this assumption because 1, there has to be enough items in the chests to actually help speed runners, and 2, ender pearls already have a chance of spawning in stronghold chests, so it's only natural to assume, "more pearls."

No eye of enders, but the other three ideas would fit with the deep dark and are good ideas to have!

Maybe not eye of enders, but how about gold? Yes the Nether Update made gold easily attainable, but what if, like the structures shown in the deep dark, there are underground, ruined nether portals that have a chance to spawn close to a deep dark structure. This would tie into potential lore and archaeology aspects wanted with this update, and it could, potentially, help speedrunners if they decide to venture below y level 0. While gold still means the speedrunners would need to barter with Piglins, this would mean that they would not necessarily need to spend the time mining or searching for gold. However, the thought of an explorer's map that leads to a stronghold would be great.

As I was concluding my comment, I had a funny thought. What if, while attempting a run, a speedrunner accidentally sent a Warden to the Nether? I now realize that the Warden would be too big to fight through a normal portal, but what if the underground portals were the right sizes to fit a Warden through?

not really the place to do this

speedrunners typically dont even enter caves and having all the loot u get for entering the deep dark be stuff thats only good if u wanna rush through the game will make it a little less interesting

mjfan2004, I don't get your point. The Deep Dark could have a huge variety of loot. We're not saying that we want the Deep Dark to be a place to rush through. We want a lot of strategy to exist in finding the materials you need to finish the game. The Deep Dark is actually the perfect place to do this. You have to be very stealthy, which means that in Speedruns it will be a matter of trade-offs. Would you rather take the risk, stealth and get slowed down to get your Ender Pearls and potentially a lot of boosts that could save the run, or rather rush through the Nether with a lot of different risks to get them, as it is faster? I'd say for expert speedrunners who intend to get world records, it'd be definitely better to just do it the old way, since you don't want to get slowed down. However if you just want to have fun and are taking your time a little bit more, like about 1 and 1/2 hours, it might definitely be worth investing time and effort in stealthing around the Warden if you're going to get huge boosts.
