I am a veteran player and early adopter of Minecraft, and I like 99% of the updates. I know and appreciate the effort put into them, all at no extra cost. The 1.9 combat system was not my favorite tbh, but it just took some getting used to, and that update had many other features that made it worth it. But I feel that random 100 block drops in the latest snapshot would be a mistake. I understand the need to challenge the player, but there are many other ways to add difficulty (e.g. new or smarter mobs, thirst, more steps to reach the end, etc), things you can anticipate to a degree, observe, and strategize; things that don't instakill the player (the void is bad enough). I just want to enjoy the scenery without combing for cracks every second. I am not a big fan of ravines, but they are rare yet hazardous for those who don't pay attention, yet death is unlikely at full health / some armor. So please consider removing the new cracks. If nothing else, perhaps consider adding an option to remove them in a custom world, or only place them in snow/ice biomes as crevasses naturally form in icy areas. Please allow them to be removed in a data pack at least.
