Weapon speed/reach tweaks and axe balancing
Swords are now faster than even pre-1.9 which makes them extremely fast also hoes are broken due to their massive speed and reach.
The reason that makes axe overpovered against shield wielder is the high shield disabling time which lets you ignore the shield for the next 3 hits.On the other hand,axes are completely useless if shields are not taken into account.Their slowness and small range doesn't give a chance to hit properly and cause to get comboed very easily by sword and hoe users.
My suggestions to fix this issues are:
• Base damage should be reverted to 1 and all tiers except wood should be buffed by 1
• All tools should have at least 2.75 reach to make them better than bare fist
The number suggestions for all tools:
speed: 2.7(nerf) to make it just fast as pre-1.9 rather than being faster than it
• Base shield disabling time of axes should be nerfed to 0.8(was 1.6) so we can hit only a single time after disabling the opponent's shield
All hoes have 3.2 speed except stone(2.7).Wooden deals 1 and the damage increases per subsequent tier except stone and iron hoes deal same damage(2).This would make a netherite hoe deal 4 damage with 3.2 speed.Reach remains at 3.5
speed: 2.2(nerf) to keep the speed difference between swords
