River Rafting – Local Water Height Rivers, River Cliffs, Mountain Springs
Rafting in the caves was a high point in the Minecon 1.17 announcement, and it would be cool if this extended to the cliffs half as well. Rivers are currently often randomly non-navigable, but the added local changes in water level could allow river level changes, separated by water flowing around and over a couple rocks as in a cataract, or rapids through a water gap. Larger level changes could have scenic waterfalls, flowing from mountains into canyons or gorges with steep cliffs. (Maybe stone arches over rivers in badlands.) Mountain biomes could also have local spring biomes or structures, perhaps a little water pool of warmth with plants or terraced mineral hot spring flowing into a stream as river sources. The combination of all these elements would occasionally generate epic rafting paths from mountaintops to the sea, or even occasionally through sinkholes and into underground rivers and aquifers. Even if these didn’t always align naturally, they would be a huge improvement to river generation and exploration.
