I think I speak for most when I say that the upcoming 1.17 caves and cliffs update for Minecraft has been long overdue, and everyone is very excited for the changes it will bring to the game. While I think it is great that the underground regions of our worlds will be getting a massive overhaul, (improved generation and some new biomes (with the potential to add more in the future), I cannot help but feel that the rest of the overworld has been left behind in many ways. One of the main features of the game is supposed to be the adventure/exploration aspect, but it feels as though this area has been severely lacking for several years now. I certainly think that progress/positive changes have been made in this regard (such as the Update Aquatic, Village and Pillage among others), but I do not think it is quite enough. Part of the problem in my opinion is that many of the biomes present within the game (speaking about the overworld, but also somewhat the Nether) are simply to similar. Once you find a given biome, you have more or less seen them all, with little to no variation existing between them. While the addition of new biomes are always welcome, I think that this only offers a temporary fix to this bigger issue mentioned above, and so it would make more sense to fix this before simply adding new biomes into the game. There are many ways this could be fixed (I have some ideas myself) but I wanted to see what everyone else thought?
